EVOLUTION OF INDIAN CONSTITUTION

The Department of History conducted a one day state level workshop on 27/01/2020 at “D” Block conference hall. The session started at 10.00 A.M. by lighting the Kutthuvilakku.

Resource Person was Mr. M. Sathish Rayan, M.A.(His), M.A.(Pub. Ad), M.L (Business Law), M.Phil., B.Ed., B.L.I.S., P.G.D.HR., & SD, P.G.D.IR & PM. Assistant Professor (Pre – Law), Government Law College, Vellore, Tamilnadu. Dr. P. N. Sudha Principal Felicitated the Workshop. The Chief Guest was welcomed by Lt. Dr. A. Amirthavalli, Associate Professor & HOD, Department of History.

The Chief Guest delivered the Lecture on “EVOLUTION OF INDIAN CONSTITUTION”.

            Chief Guest explained about the Evolution of Indian Constitution and the Preamble “WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a SOVEREIGN, SOCIALIST, SECULAR, DEMOCRATIC, REPUBLIC and secure the all citizens”. Spoke about what is a welfare state?  How constitution gives protection to all in variable of Caste, Creed and religion.  He detailed about Justice, Liberty, Equality, Fraternity, Unity and Integrity of the Nation. Explained about the efforts made by constituent assembly which took 2 years, 11 months, and 18 days to draft the world best constitution.He spoke in detail about Fundamental Rights, Fundamental Duties and Directive Principals of State Policy. He explained the important of Articles gave special emphasize to the article on Constitutional Remedies. Article 32 was called “the very soul of the constitution and the very heart of it” by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. He briefed about the Writs Habeas Corpus, Mandamus, Prohibition, Certiorari, Quo – Warrento . Finally during the question session he answered the questions raised by the students on NRC, & CAA. 250 UG & PG Students from Dkm College for women, 10 Students from Voorhees College, Vellore, 20 students from Aringar Anna Government Arts College, Walajapet, and 05 Research Scholars Participated in this Workshop.

     The program was compared by Mrs. S. Jayanthi, Assistant Professor in History and Mrs.M.Vanitha, Assistant Professor in History, vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. G. Vijayalakshmi, Assistant Professor in History.
