REPORT ON NATIONAL LEVEL TECHNICAL SYMPOSIUM - “TECHFEST’2020”

 

D.K.M. College for Women (Autonomous) - Department of Computer Science and Applications were organized the National Level Technical Symposium - “Techfest’2020” on 20th February 2020. A customary invocation and lightning of the traditional lamp marked the beginning of the symposium at 10 A.M. Thiru. D. Maninathan, B.E., the Secretary of the College felicitated the gathering and Dr. T. Sivakumar, M.A., the President of the college presided over the symposium. Dr.P.N.Sudha, the Principal of the College and Dr. M. Nagarathinam, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Chemistry delivered the presidential address.

Mrs. G. Sangeetha Lakshmi, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Computer Applications,  delivered the welcome address. Mrs. B. Arulmozhi, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Computer Science introduced the Chief guest Mr.Yogeshwaran Selvaraj, B.Tech(EIE), Senior Test Engineer, Scientific Games, Ascends International IT park, Tharamani, Chennai. He delivered a speech on “Current IT Industrial Expectation”. The lecture was specially conducted for students to prepare them for real corporate world. Many important interview tips were given by Mr Yogeshwaran Selvaraj. He focuses about industry expectations like Communication Skills, Knowledge Beyond the Textbooks,. Ability to Lead , Positive Approach and Updated with Latest in Technology. He also shares his industry experiences with students and gives them tips to improve their personality for interviews. He said that an engineer is expected to multitask in his organization. While he plays the leader to his teammates, he may simultaneously be expected to handle client queries. An ordinary engineer who lacks the ability to handle many tasks at a time may fail to cope with these industry expectations. If you have to survive in the engineering field, hone your multitasking abilities.

 Ms.P.Ramya, Assistant Professor introduced the Chief Guest Dr. J. Anuradha, M.Sc., M.Phil., Ph.D., Associate Professor, Department of Database System, School of Computer Science and Engineering, VIT, Vellore. She delivered a lecture on  “Trends and Opportunities in Machine Learning”.she said Artificial intelligence and machine learning are the two interesting terms that are buzzing around. These two upgraded technologies have made our lives faster. Machines are upgraded with Artificial intelligence and Machine learning which are meeting with the standards of human knowledge and intelligence in every field. Due to the technological revolution, led to a greater and quicker deal of things that made lives easier.

       Being an Intercollegiate Technical Symposium, students from other colleges participated.  Around 200 students from other colleges nearly 15 colleges  were participated in the technical symposium. Various technical events like Paper Presentation, Poster Presentation, Debugging, Web Designing, Quiz and Marketing were conducted. Certificates and prizes were distributed to the students of various colleges who won their competition. Overall championship is conquered  by M.M.E.S College for Women, Melvisharam.

 

 Mrs. G.Arunkumari, Assistant Professor proposed the Vote of Thanks. The programme came to an end with the National Anthem.
