Founder

D.K.M College was founded in June 1972 by vallal Sri .Krishnaswami Mudaliar. The Great Philanthropist took it as his life’s Mission to serve the cause of women’s education and thus this college took its shape.

Born at Doddipalli Village near Chittoor, Andhrapradesh in a poor family. Shri. N.Krishnasamy Mudaliar had his life from scratch as a bus driver. He waded through insurmountable adversities but succeeded in securing a lofty position in life. Simplicity, honesty, integrity, perseverance and devotion to duty were the virtues which raised him to the rank of a fleet owner. With his life’s labour and earnings, he created a permanent Charity Trust and started N.K.M. Higher Secondary School. Then D.K.M Women’s college was established in 1972.

This college was started with the sheer intention of furthering women`s education. In addition to the academic curriculum, we focus on giving the students a holistic development through a strong foundation cemented by values, ethics, confidence and vision.

The students are trained through seminars, workshops, guest lecturers, etc to tackle the challenges posed at both their personal and career fronts. We provide education which delivers the values unique providing high quality education which is learners centered, as recommended by the educationist of contemporary days. As you are aware, “Knowledge Based Society” leads to a faster economic growth in our country, all out academic policies and program are designed to cater them.

A well- structured curriculum with an adequate dose of co- curricular and extracurricular activities will motive the students to gain knowledge throughout their stay in the college

D.K.M College for women was founded by a man born for the upliftment of the downtrodden women folk in the area, where service is needed and that great Soul is Amarar Vellore Vallal N.Krishnaswamy Mudaliar. To serve society through Education is the life mission of our benevolent and philanthropist founder. The mission is visualized through the foundation of NKM Trust. DKM college for women (Autonomous) established in the year 1972, is a pioneer Institution in providing quality and need based education through the efforts of Dr. T. Sivakumar, M.A., President and Thiru. D. Maninathan, B.E., Secretary of the college.
At present D.K.M College for women offers 19 UG courses (5-Aided, 14 unaided), 12 PG courses (unaided), 10 M.Phil., courses (unaided) and 12 Ph.D., courses (Full Time & Part Time). The College has a longstanding tradition of academic excellence and this is sustained by the advanced facilities.   The college got autonomous status in 2006-07 and  has been reaccredited by (UGC) NAAC in 2016. As a compliment for the excellent academic atmosphere prevalent in the college, the UGC has given autonomy extension for the next six years (till 2020).

The only way to do great work is to do with instinct and Intelligence to make right choices in the right time in the appropriate way. The College has a team of experienced, efficient and dedicated faculty who have a passion for teaching. The academic programmes are challenging at the college.  We, at DKM college, strongly believe in the words, “The direction in which education takes a man, will determine his future life”.

Ever since its inception in 1972, DKM College for Women, Vellore, too, has stayed committed to the same and true to the vision of its founder Thiru. Krishnaswamy Mudaliar, which was to impart quality education to rural women, making them independent individuals of integrity who can be agents of social change

DKM College for Women aspires to be a model of excellence through dynamic programmes, innovative practices and a focus on research. The  Faculty of the college are well qualified, updated and passionately committed teachers, truly interested in the welfare and development of their wards. Apart from academics, the college offers various opportunities and platforms to students to display and hone their skills through extension and extra curricular activities and various value added courses. The atmosphere of the college is student friendly and greatly conducive to learning.
