Department of History

About the Department

The Department of History was established in 1973 with an initial strength of 50 students. Over the years, it has grown into a center for higher learning and research. The department took a significant step forward in 2016 by introducing the M.A. History program under the unaided session, marking its transition into a Postgraduate department.

Further advancing its academic scope, the department initiated a part-time Ph.D. program in 2009, followed by the launch of a full-time Ph.D. program in 2014. With these developments, the department has evolved into a distinguished research hub, fostering scholarly inquiry and historical research.
