College Profile

Dhanabhagiyam Krishnasamy Mudaliar College for Women (Autonomous), Vellore-1 established in the year 1972 is a pioneer institution in providing quality and need based education for fifty glorious years now.  The institution was founded by Amarar Vellore Vallal N.Krishnasamy Mudaliar, a noble soul whose life mission was the upliftment and empowerment of the downtrodden and socially backward women. The laudable vision of the founder was concretized through the foundation of the NKM Trust, which manages the various educational institutions in its ambit.

Under the able guidance and leadership of Dr.Thiru.T.Sivakumar M.A., President and Thiru.D.Maninathan B.E., Secretary who proved worthy of the mantle inherited, the college has prospered and touch the milestone of 50 golden years of service in the field of Higher Education.

At present DKM College for Women offers 19 UG courses (5 Aided, 14 Unaided), 12 PG Courses (Unaided), 10 M.Phil Courses 10 M.Phil Coursecs ( Full time and Part time) and 14 Ph.D., courses ( Full time and Part time). The college has a longstanding tradition of academic excellence and this is sustained by the advanced facilities available in the campus. The college got autonomous status in 2006-2007. The college has been reaccredited by UGC-NAAC in 2016. As a compliment for the excellent academic atmosphere prevalent in the college, the UGC has given autonomy extension for the next six years (till 2020).

Our Progress

a) Establishment of IQAC

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) was established in the year 2004 after the visit of the NAAC peer committee as a post accreditation quality sustenance measure.  It monitors various aspects of the institutional functioning.  The IQAC has been channelizing the efforts and measures of the college towards academic excellence.

To create awareness about the importance of basic sciences and psychology among the student community the management introduced new courses.
