Celebration of WORLD TOURISM DAY on 27.09.2019 by Extra Curricular Activity Cell

 REPORT OF “WORLD TOURISM DAY”

ON 27.09.2019 (FRIDAY)

The world tourism day was celebrated on 27th September 2019 by Government of Tamilnadu Tourism Department and DKM College for Women (Vellore). In order to spread the information about world tourism to all, both government of tourism department and extracurricular activity cell of DKM College For Women has conducted various activities by centering the theme as “Tourism and Jobs-A Better Future For All” (oratory, essay and drawing ) on 27th September morning for the students. The program of world tourism day was head by Government of Tourism Department, Secretary and principal of DKM College. The tourism department Thiru. B. Elamurugan (Assistant Tourist Officer, Vellore) and Thiru. D.Maninathan (Secretary of DKMC) and Dr.P.N.Sudha (Principal of DKMC) honoured chief guest Dr Shanmuga Sudaram (Vellore District Collector, IAS). The students are enthusiastically involved themselves in activities and also showed their talents about the knowledge and views of world tourism spots. Nearly 150 students participated both from aided and unaided college. The best students were selected from each activity and they were honored by Vellore District Collector. The chief guest Collector of Vellore District A. Shanmuga Sundaram delivered speech on the importance of world tourism spot and history of each cultural heritage. He gave away the certificate and prize for the winner of the above mentioned competions. Finally vote of thanks was presented by Mrs. S. Jayanthi, Assistant Prof of History and Elamurugan (Assistant tourist officer) for the students involved in various competitions and also thanked chief guest Dr Shanmuga Sudaram (Vellore District Collector, IAS) for sharing his valuable information about tourism.

Fine Arts Committee- Report (2019-20)

The fine arts committee of D.K.M College has conducted various competitions to the students to exhibit their talents like Pencil sketch, Mehandi, Hair Do, Jewellery Making, Saree Designing, Flower Bouquet Making, Cooking, Vegetable and Fruit Carving, Singing- Solo and Group, Kolam, Rangoli, Nail Painting, Fashion Parade and Folk Dance- Solo and Group from 07.08.2019 to 09.08.2019. Around 200 students participated in various competitions. The best performance of each programme was judged by a group of 35 faculty members and selected for prize distribution.

The fine arts day celebration was conducted on 13.08.2019 at 10.00 A.M in the open auditorium. The fine arts day celebration began with a prayer song and lighting of kuthuvilaku. The audience was welcomed by Dr. S.Sasikala, Assistant Professor in Tamil & Fine Arts Committee Secretary. The master of ceremony was done Mrs.R.Sarathy, Assistant Professor in English. Mr.D.Maninathan, the secretary of the college addressed the students and encouraged them by announcing special prize money Rs.11500 for the winners. The Chief Guest Mrs.S.Soniya Devi,Dance Teacher in Navarasa Natyalaya, Vellore gave special address to the students and distributed the prizes to the winners of various competitions. Mrs.Vinupriya, Assistant Professor in Mathematics announced the prize winners; the overall championship was won by the students in department of Chemistry. Among the various competitions already conducted, the best performance like Solo and group singing, Solo and Group dance were also performed on the stage. Vote of thanks was given by Mrs.Vanitha, Assistant Professor in History and the programme came to an end with National Anthem.

CAREER GUIDANCE AND PLACEMENT CELL
PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT TRAINING PROGRAMME

Career guidance and the placement cell of the DKM College for women organized personality development training programme on 20.08.2019 at Bramaputhira hall in collaboration with Rexona congidance academy.

The programme was presided over by the Principal Dr. P.N. Sudha of D.K.M College for Women. Ms. Rizwana, CEO of Procampus confidence academy, Hindustan Unilever was the Chief Guest.

The Programme commenced with the Tamil Thai Vazhthu. Career Guidance and Placement cell coordinator  Dr. Lt. A. Amirthavalli, Associate Professor& Head, Department of History  coordinated the programme, Mrs. M. Gayathri Assistant Professor, Department Of English, formally welcomed the gathering. Chief Guest addressed all the students in multiple sessions highlighting the importance of Grooming and Confidence and short documentary was shown to make them understand the importance of personality development. This training session would help them to face and crack the interviews out of this programme more than 3000 students benefitted.

Jute Awareness Training Programme

Career guidance and the placement cell of the DKM College for women organized  Jute Awareness Meet on 14.08.2019 at Bramaputhira hall along with the National Jute Board and District Industries Training Centre.

The programme was presided over by the Principal Dr. P.N. Sudha of D.K.M College for Women. Mr. T. Ayyappan Joint Director of National Jute Board and Mr.K. Ravi, B.E.,M.B.A., Joint Director/General Manager, District Industries Centre, Department of Industries & Commerce, Govt. of India  were the Chief Guest.

Career Guidance and Placement  cell coordinator  Dr. Lt. A. Amirthavalli, Associate Professor& Head, Department of History and members of Placement cell Mrs. M. Gayathri Assistant Professor, Department Of English, Mrs. S.Sumathi Assistant Professor, Department of English, And Mrs. S. Sasikala Assistant Professor, Department Of Commerce and Student participated in the programme.

The Programme commenced with the Tamil Thai Vazhthu.  Mr. M. Gunasekaran, Director, Madha Educational Trust, Katpadi, Vellore formally welcomed all the dignitaries present on the dais and the students.

Dr. Lt. A. Amirthavalli, Associate Professor& Head, Department of History addressed the student about the importance of the jute.

Er. K.Ravi, Joint Director/  General Manager Of District Industries Centre spoke about job opportunities in the field of jute and subsidies that government offers for the entrepreneurs.

It was followed by the presentation on Jute & Jute Eco-Friendly Products by Mr.T.Ayyappan, Joint Director of Jute Board, Ministry Of Textiles, Chennai. His presentation focused on how jute is cultivated, processed and made into different products, how to market the product and the assistance provided by the government to market the product. More than 400 students benefited out of the programme.

Mrs.S. Sumathi, Assistant Professor, Department of English proposed the vote of thanks. Mrs. M. Gayathri Assistant professor of English, compered the programme and the programme came to an end with the national anthem.
