CAREER GUIDANCE AND THE PLACEMENT CELL

Jute Awareness Training Programme

Career guidance and the placement cell of the DKM College for women organized  Jute Awareness Meet on 14.08.2019 at Bramaputhira hall along with the National Jute Board and District Industries Training Centre.

The programme was presided over by the Principal Dr. P.N. Sudha of D.K.M College for Women. Mr. T. Ayyappan Joint Director of National Jute Board and Mr.K. Ravi, B.E.,M.B.A., Joint Director/General Manager, District Industries Centre, Department of Industries & Commerce, Govt. of India  were the Chief Guest.

Career Guidance and Placement  cell coordinator  Dr. Lt. A. Amirthavalli, Associate Professor& Head, Department of History and members of Placement cell Mrs. M. Gayathri Assistant Professor, Department Of English, Mrs. S.Sumathi Assistant Professor, Department of English, And Mrs. S. Sasikala Assistant Professor, Department Of Commerce and Student participated in the programme.

The Programme commenced with the Tamil Thai Vazhthu.  Mr. M. Gunasekaran, Director, Madha Educational Trust, Katpadi, Vellore formally welcomed all the dignitaries present on the dais and the students.

Dr. Lt. A. Amirthavalli, Associate Professor& Head, Department of History addressed the student about the importance of the jute.

Er. K.Ravi, Joint Director/  General Manager Of District Industries Centre spoke about job opportunities in the field of jute and subsidies that government offers for the entrepreneurs.

It was followed by the presentation on Jute & Jute Eco-Friendly Products by Mr.T.Ayyappan, Joint Director of Jute Board, Ministry Of Textiles, Chennai. His presentation focused on how jute is cultivated, processed and made into different products, how to market the product and the assistance provided by the government to market the product. More than 400 students benefited out of the programme.

Mrs.S. Sumathi, Assistant Professor, Department of English proposed the vote of thanks. Mrs. M. Gayathri Assistant professor of English, compered the programme and the programme came to an end with the national anthem.

REPORT ON LEGAL AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON ANTI -RAGGING

Women Developoment Cell and Anti-Ragging Cell  in association with District Legal Services Authority, Vellore organized a “Legal  Awareness Programme on Anti -ragging” on 23rd July 2019 at D-Block Conference Hall . The Chief guests of this programme were Mrs. S.Selva Sundari, Principal District and sessions Judge, District Legal Service Authority, Mr. S.Gunasekar, Chief Additional District and Sessions Judge, Mr.R.Kanagaraj, Secretary, Sub Judge and Mr. K. Anandan, Additional Sub Judge, Vellore. The Programme started with Tamizh thai vazhthu. Dr. K.Devi, Head and Associate Professor, Department of Zoology, Co-ordinator of Anti-Ragging Cell, welcomed the gathering which was followed by honouring the guests.

       Mrs. S.Selva Sundari,Principal District and Sessions Judge in her presidential address explained various forms of Ragging, Ragging in educational institutions and its adverse effect on the lives of the affected students. She emphasized that the students should aware that ragging in any forms- Physical, Verbal, Gestural, is a punishable offence. She motivated the students should be courage to face any situations in their life.

       Mr.S.Guna sekar, Chief Additional District and |Sessions Jude gave a clear picture about the sections and sub sections of Indian Penal Code that covers Ragging Practices.         Mr. R.Kanagaraj, Secretary, Sub Judge explained the case laws related to Ragging. Mr. K.Anandhan, Additional Sub Judge, gave explanations about penalties and imprisonment for those indulging in such activities.

Nearly 300 Students from Department of BBA, B.Com, B.Com (CA), B.Sc (Maths) participated and benefitted from this programme and vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Sathish raj, Junior Assistant, District Legal Service Authorities, Vellore. The programme concluded with National Anthem.

Report on Textile Screen Printing and Online Sarees Business (2019-2020)


 In collaboration with Raja Screen Printers, Theni, the Women Development Cell organized a crash course on 18.07.2019 at 11.00 A.M in the Brahmaputra hall on the topic Textile Screen Printing and Online Sarees Business. The inauguration of the programme began at 11.00 A.M with a prayer song and the lighting of Kuthuvilaku. Dr. P.N Sudha, Principal, DKM College for Women felicitated the chief guest. Mr. M. Rajavel D.M.E., the proprietor of Raja Screen Printers, Theni. She also addressed the student participants on the importance of skill development for being an empowered woman in this competitive world. The first session on Textile Screen Printing began at 11.30 A.M. Students were trained on the making of single printing, double printing, 3D glitter printing and kundan works on cotton and kadhi materials. Students were provided with the necessary raw materials like cotton cloth, printing paint and the apparatus needed for their practice. After a lunch break of half an hour, the second session began at 2.00 P.M on the topic online sarees business. An audio- video explanation of how to begin an online sarees business was screened and elaborated. About 114 students from various departments of aided and unaided stream participated in the training and benefitted greatly. The valedictory programme took place at 4.00 P.M. The certificates were distributed to the student participants and their feedback was collected. The training was found to be useful as per the feedback forms collected from the students. Mrs.Rama, Assistant professor in Management Studies and the member of WDC presented the vote of thanks. The training programme successfully concluded with the National Anthem.
