History Association  Meeting – 14.09.2017

 

           Department of History in Collaboration with Vellore Head Post Office Conducted an Awareness programme to promote saving scheme, philately among student at “D” Block Conference hall on 14.09.17 at 10.00 a.m.

           Chief Guest Mrs. K. Vijaya, the Superintendent of Post office, Vellore Division, Vellore spoke about the saving schemes available at the post office and different types of stamps. She motivated the students to have saving habit and requested them to open saving accounts in post office.

        Mr. Murali, Assistant Superintendent of Vellore Division, Mr. S. Selva kumar marketing executive and  other members of postal department  were also present. They helped and guided the students to open saving accounts. Nearly 1000 Students were benefited by this programme.

            Another speaker Mr. M. Tamilvanan, Philatelist conducted a philatelic Workshop on the Topic “The History of  Stamps”. He explained about History of Stamps, various types of Stamps and the importance of the hobby of Philately. He said Philately is the king of hobbies. According to the Research conducted by the California University for the Depressed,  proved that the habit of collecting stamps by the depressed people highly helped them to reduce their stress. He stressed upon the Philately hobby have made man wealthy as well as happy.
