New Year celebration

NSS, Lions Club of Vellore and Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Adukamparai, Vellore jointly organized general medical camp and blood donation camp on 28.12.15. all the students

were sreened for haemoglobin and given calcium and iron tablets. 30 units of blood were donated by NSS volunteers.

The Department of Foods and Nutrition organized an “Income Generating Activity – Food Carnival” for the students on 30.12.2015 from 11.00 a.m to 6.00 pm in the DKM College. The carnival was inaugurated by the Administrative Officer Ms.Manimegalai and Head of the Commerce Department Dr.Mythli.The department of Foods and Nutrition go all the way – to be adventurous and innovative to cook and sale most delicious and amazingly appetizing recipes – Chapatti with chicken gravy, Saucee Noodles, Yang Mung

Fried rice, Cut your hunger with cutlet, Hot – Spicy and scrummy chat items, Maska Chaska pop corn and sweet corn, Indian Dessert carrot halwa and coconut burfi, Crunchy munchy cauliflower pakoda, Cool, refreshing and economical lime mint juice, Delectable Gobi Manchurian, Crispy potato and tapioca chips, Spongy plain cake, Delicious bread baji and Virat poli.

The Department of Computer Science And Application organized an association meeting on 16.12.2015.

The Department of Microbiology has organized an extension service for School students (1 to 5thstd) on 14.12.15 at Government Elementary School, Kangeyanallur. The students of B.Sc. III year Microbiology, DKM College for Women, actively participated in various kinds of activities. The details of the programs organized have been given below.

1. Skit play – Topic “Cleanliness is godliness”
2. Short film show on “A Journey to Microbial world”
3. Games on “Diseases and Cleanliness”
4. Model show on “Traffic Awareness”
5. Short Film about “Dengue – Our Enemy”

The faculty members of Microbiology Department Dr.J.Hemapriya and Ms.A.Barathi coordinated the program.

Department of Botany organized Guest Lecture Programme on 20-10-15 at 10.30a.m. in the D’Block Conference Hall.  Welcome address was given by Tmt. L. Umamaheshwari H.O.D of Botany.  Dr. P.N. Sudha, Principal delivered a felicitation to this programme.  The students of Department of Zoology attended the meeting.

15.10.15  – In connection with Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s 84th birth anniversary NSS volunteers participated in the rally.

12.10.15 – Essay writing and oratorical competitions were conducted in commemoration ‘Youth Renaissance Day’. The winners were sent for District Level competition conducted by Govt. Of Tamil Nadu.

World Tourism Day-2015 was celebrated on the Theme – “One Billion Tourists, One Billion Opportunities & Swach Bharath”

Chief Guest Thiru. P. Selvaraj, District Tourist Officer, Tamil Nadu Tourism Department, Vellore, delivered address on importance of Tourism and how tourism imports our Indian economy.

Chief guest Dr. M. Jayasudha, Assistant Professor of Economics, spoke on E-Tourism, famous tourist sports in India, strength and weakness of Tourism and how to develop tourist spots. Various competitions were conducted. Prizes and certificates were distributed to the winners and all participants.

One day ‘Guest lecture programme’’ was conducted by the Department of Zoology on 06.10.2015. The program commenced at 10 AM with the prayer song sung by the students of Zoology. The gatherings were welcomed by the HOD of Zoology Dr. K. Devi. The resource persons invited were Dr. M. Gunasekaran, M.Sc., Ph.D., Trustee, Protect our Environment Trust, Coimbatore and Mr. S. A. Sukumar, Managing Director, Protect our Environment Trust, Coimbatore.
 
First special lecture was delivered by Dr. M. Gunasekaran on “Climate Change-a world scenario”. His talk was very informative with the causative agents for Global warming and pictures with the power point presentation.
 

After the break the second talk was delivered by Mr. S. A. Sukumar on “Migration of Birds”.
