Annual Alumnae Get-Together

Annual Alumnae Get-Together meeting was organized on 29.01.2017. Special Chief Guest – Vijay T.V Kalakapovathu Yaru famous “Arakkonam E. Dinesh”, Stand –up Comedian.

It was wonderful to see more than 600 alumnae back to our campus.

The event was a great success, thanks to everyone who took part in the celebrations.

D.K.M celebrated Pongal in a memorable manner, which will stay evergreen in the memory of the students.

Each department staff and student prepared pongal in the college premises and the best ‘pongal’ was awarded with the cash prize by our secretary Thiru.D. Maninathan B.E.

Students were dressed in traditional attire. College Union and NSS with help of management organised the bullock cart ride and students climbed on to the cart and enjoyed.

Tamizh Valarchi Kazhagam, Vellore conducted District Level Competitions on 20.12.2016 at E V Ramasamy Girls Higher Secondary School.

Vindhiya of III B.Sc Mathematics has won third price of Rs. 5000/- in Kavithai Potti on the topic “AMMA”.

Faculty Development Programme on “Quality Assurance in Higher Education”

 

On 17th December, 2016 IQAC has arranged Faculty Development program. Faculties from Aided and Unaided stream of our college and Faculties from other colleges had actively participated in the program. The occasion begun with a prayer song. Dr.R. Padmaja IQAC Advisor, DKMC gave welcome address. Our beloved Principal Dr. P.N.Sudha felicitated the chief guest of first session Dr. Srinivasan Latha, Assistant Professor in Chemistry, SRM University, Kattankulathur, Chennai.

Our eminent chief guest begun the session with self appraising phrases  “Teachers are Facilitator’s”. She delivered the lecture on Building Competencies in Teachers for quality in education. The faculties participated enthusiastically. The session was highly interactive and filled with task based activities. She educated that teachers carry the important role in employing children. Teachers’ act as a “Changing agent” in the students’ life. Impacting the knowledge to the students is a major role played by the teachers. She concluded that teachers should develop certain competencies for the welfare of both self and student. The session ended with vote of thanks delivered by Dr. S. Santha Lakshmi, Assistant Professor in Chemistry, DKMC.

The second session begun with the welcome address given by     Dr. R. Banumathy, IQAC Coordinator, DKMC. The invited Resource Person for the second session is Dr. Z. Zayapragassarazan Additional Professor of Educational Technology, Department of Medical Education JIPMER, Puducherry spoke on ICT for Research and Publications. The versatile professor explained the importance of Research which purely depends on Attitude. He motivated the faculties by surfing many websites connected to active research. He literated the faculties to make use of digital facilities in Research work. New technicalities in digital Research opens the gate of opportunities for tremendous growth. His motivational speech on Research and Research guidance enriched the idea of Research to be done more in the future. He concluded that “Attitude is the key to Success”. Proper predisposition is required to attain success. The day ened with vote of thanks given by Dr. V. Prabha, Assistant Professor in Biochemistry, DKMC. Feedback was collected from all the participants of our college. Faculties from our college and  other colleges shared their experiences about the programme of the day.               13

The Principal and the chief guest distributed the participation certificates to all the faculties. The programme end with the National Anthem.

23 09.09.16 In connection with World Suicide Prevention Day. Rally was conducted from Vellore Taluk office to DKM College, Sainathapuram, Vellore.

Signature campaign was also conducted.    Dr. Zubaidha Sulthana, Psychiatrist, Meenakshi Medical College, Kancheepuram Delivered a Talk on the topic “Say no to Suicide” Mr. Chandrasekar, Udavum Ullangal and Mr. Naveen President, Lions Club of Vellore took part in the program. Prizes were distributed to the winners. An awareness regarding suicide prevention was created among the students by lighting the candles.

  • INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY was celebrated on 21-06-2016. 100 YRC volunteers participated.
  • Awareness programme on INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE AND ILLICIT TRAFFICKING was held on 28/06/2016 at IRCS, Vellore District Bracnch. YRC Volunteers took past.
  • Awareness Programme on “VOLUNTARY BLOOD DONATION” was organized at D Block, Conference Hall on 01/07/2016. 120 YRC Volunteers participated. Dr. Latha Lakshmi M.B.B.S., D.G.O., M.S(O.G)., was the chief Guest.
  • BLOOD DONATION CAMP was organized in the college campus on 22.7.2016. 30 Units of Blood were donated to Adukkamparai Medical College and Hospital, Vellore.
  • ‘WORLD HEPATITIS DAY’ was observed on 27.07.2016 Dr.B.Nandhini M.B.B.S., CMC, triggered awareness about the disease. 400 YRC Volunteers took part.
  • HIV/ AIDS AWARENESS PROGRAMME was held on 09/08/2016 from 11.30 AM to 1.00 PM at D Block Conference Hall. Ms.Malliga Chandran, Director, WHEEL, Addressed the gathering. 500 YRC Volunteers were Participated.
  • GENEVA CONVENTION DAY was celebrated by organizing Elecution, Essay and Drawing Competitions on 17/08/2016.

Youth Awakening Day – 18.10.2016

As per the announcement by the Honble Chief Minister and orders Issued by the Tamilnadu Government, 15th of  October, the Birthday of former President Late Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was celebrated as the youth Awakening Day in our college on 18.10.2016. The NSS and the college union were incharge of organizing the events.

A Youth Rally was organized in which around 400 students participated. At 9.00 am the rally started from the college campus with the flag wavering by the Principal Dr. P.N. Sudha. The students were holding pluck cards with the images and quotes of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. From the college campus, the rally went on till Velapadi and again returned back around 9.50 a.m. As a part of youth Awakening Day celebrations, an Essay competition was conducted. The students were asked to present their Essays on any one of the following topics.

  1. Indian Space Journey
  2. Science for Human Welfare
  3. Use of Science and Technology in Daily life
  4. Role of Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in Motivating students Scientific Temper.
  5. Science and Environment
  6. Science for Better Health.

 

28 Students participated in the Essay competition. The best three essays were selected and awarded with prizes.

An invited lecture was organized in the D Block conference Hall at 10.00 am. After the prayer song and welcome address. Dr. M. Kalpana, Asst. Prof. of Tamil, AAA College for women, Walajah was the resource person of the Technical session I . She spoke on the early life and the achievements of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. She came out with practical examples which was easily understood by the students. The students were participative and Interactive.

Dr. P. Vinayaga moorthy, Librarian Thiruvalluvar University, Vellore, was the Resource person for the Technical session II. His lecture covered the developmental Ideas of Dr. A.P.J. Kalam. He highlighted the skills to be observed and learnt from Dr. Kalam’s life. He underlined, Dr. Kalam’s love, affection and care, he had, for the youth especially the students community.

On the whole, the talks were very motivational. It tried to bring out the hidden Inner strengths of the students and build youth power for a better Nation.

After the feedback from the students the programme came to a happy end at 12.15 pm with the National Anthem.
